India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have taken a major step toward strengthening their bilateral relationship by sealing a long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply deal, while also outlining ambitious plans for deeper defence cooperation and a $200 billion bilateral trade target. The agreements mark a new phase in the growing strategic partnership between the two nations.
At the core of the development is a landmark LNG agreement under which the UAE will supply natural gas to India over the next decade. The deal is expected to significantly enhance India’s energy security by ensuring a stable and reliable supply of cleaner fuel, while also reinforcing the UAE’s position as a key energy partner for India.
