Dubai: The UAE has reinforced its commitment to protecting consumers ahead of Ramadan by warning retailers against unjustified price increases on essential food items, while inspection teams in Dubai have already started field visits to ensure price stability and market transparency.
The Ministry of Economy and Tourism confirmed that retailers and suppliers are not allowed to raise prices on nine essential consumer goods without prior approval, a move aimed at safeguarding households during one of the busiest shopping periods of the year.

The government’s pricing policy specifically applies to key staples that see high demand during Ramadan.
