Abu Dhabi, UAE: The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) and the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) have officially announced the Eid Al Fitr holiday schedule for 2026, confirming the dates for both federal government and private sector employees across the United Arab Emirates.
Federal Government Holiday Schedule
According to the announcement, employees working in federal government entities will observe the Eid Al Fitr holiday starting Thursday, March 19, 2026, through Sunday, March 22, 2026.
Official working hours for federal government staff will resume on Monday, March 23, 2026.
The extended four-day break is expected to provide public sector employees with ample time to celebrate the festival with family and loved ones.
Private Sector Holiday Schedule
For private sector employees, the Eid holiday will begin on Thursday, March 19, 2026, and continue until Saturday, March 21, 2026, as per the directive issued by the Ministry.
However, authorities have clarified that if the holy month of Ramadan completes 30 days, the private sector holiday will automatically be extended by one additional day, making Sunday, March 22, 2026, a paid holiday as well.
Nationwide Implementation
The announcement applies to all emirates across the UAE and follows the country’s established regulatory framework for public and private sector holiday alignment. The unified holiday policy ensures clarity for employers, employees, and businesses while maintaining operational consistency nationwide.
Eid Al Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, is one of the most significant Islamic festivals celebrated in the UAE and across the Muslim world. The occasion is traditionally observed with special prayers, family gatherings, charitable giving, and festive meals.
Authorities extended their warm wishes to residents and citizens ahead of the upcoming celebrations, encouraging communities to observe the holiday in the spirit of unity and gratitude.
